April 13 - June 30
Getting Started
The Wake County Public School System invites you to discover which school is right for your child and your family’s needs. The new student assignment plan is designed to give you choices of where to enroll your child. And from there, your child will grow as a learner to achieve success.
At WCPSS, we believe in the potential of all students and are committed to providing them with a world-class education.
We hope this website will help guide you through the choice process.
If your child currently attends a WCPSS school…
You will receive an Initial Notice of School Assignment the week of November 14 –18. This initial notice grandfathers your child at his or her current school with your current transportation and assigns rising sixth– and ninth-graders to their newly approved feeder pattern school.
If you are happy with this assignment, you do not have to do anything else. You will receive your official Notice of Assignment on May 15.
If you would like to make a change, you may participate in the Choice Selection Process.
If you are new to WCPSS, the parent of a rising kindergartner or if you are an existing parent who would like to choose a new school for your child…
